03 February 2020, Circeo National Park, Latium, Italy 1 LWfG observed - 1 2cy. This year it once again arrived with about 126 greylags in November and this year stayed with two greylags, perhaps a pair. I saw the lesser white-front during my annual census on 21st January, 2020 and today I found it again, if rather far away!, still with its two greylag companions. I shall try to follow its movements until it leaves. Two days ago (1st February,2020) the main goose flock was here but today (3rd Feb.) I didn’t see them. . The greylags are certainly wild and according to my reading of their neck collars in the ‘80’s, are of Polish breeding stock. I know that lesser white-fronts have had a chequered career as genuine wild birds in recent years. What do you think of this one? Source: Dr. Nicholas Henson. Map:

21 January 2020, Circeo National Park, Latium, Italy 1 LWfG observed - 1 2cy. This little goose arrived in November 2018 with about 140 greylag geese and was particularly associated with a small group of these geese until they left in early February, 2019. The lesser white-front didn’t leave with them but joined up with a few wigeon on Monaci lake here where it had been all winter with the greylags and then moved over to Fogliano lake, joining up with a 550 strong wigeon flock and grazing with them from 21st March to 5th April when it left at the same time as the last third of the wigeon flock. This year it once again arrived with about 126 greylags in November and this year stayed with two greylags, perhaps a pair. I saw the lesser white-front during my annual census on 21st January, 2020 and today I found it again, if rather far away!, still with its two greylag companions. The greylags are certainly wild and according to my reading of their neck collars in the ‘80’s, are of Polish breeding stock. Our bird had no rings or other markings and appeared in good condition. This year it has been closely accompanied by two greylags. Source: Dr. Nicholas Henson. Map:
