03 September 2017, Vieranjarga coastal meadows, Varangerfjorden, Nesseby, Finnmark, Norway 2 LWfG observed (Fennoscandian) - 2 Ad. 2 adult LWfG roosting with 23 Greylag Geese and 10 Barnacles early morning on the small pond with either brackish or fresh water on the shore of the cape. At 4.25-4.27 they lift off with Greylags heading to South East. At 6.45 -7.40 same LWfG were found at Southern coast of the cape. At least 2 birds with rings (WR, OGR). It is the first day after several weeks that the birds concentrated in one flock. Before, they scattered in several flocks that spread in most of the eastern part of the lake even into the riparian forest. One bird with rings (OL). Most of the lake is still frozen (90%) but the ground at the north and north-eastern part of the lake was unfrozen. The area is heavily muddy and difficult to approach.
